Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Enjoy a sightseeing dinner cruise along the Potomac River and Washington, DC’s beautiful waterfront, departing from Gangplank Marina at 600 Water Street SW. This excursion covers the Potomac River with fascinating views of DC’s famous monuments and the city's historic waterfront.

The Odyssey is a modern dining ship with three exquisitely decorated glass atrium dining rooms, offering amazing river views of the nation's greatest monuments from every table. These inner dining areas offers plenty of comfortable seating with large picture windows to see the sites. There is also an open-air observation deck (reminiscent of the European canal ships) and dance floors.

The Captain and crew greet the guests as they arrive and the ship's photographer will record the moment for each party, if desired.

For the 3-course dinner, there is a tasting trio, entrees and desserts. To begin, choose from roasted summer vegetable salad, rock shrimp spheres or whipped goat cheese. The entrees include crab and mussel gratin, Romesco crust salmon, maple mustard glazed chicken, braised short rib, cauliflower steak or steak and lobster tail (additional charge). For dessert, there’s duo of sorbet, Odyssey signature bread pudding, mountain berry shortcake or chocolate decadent cake.

After eating, dance the night away to live music. The evening begins with softer standards before shifting to more high-energy dance music after dinner.

Throughout the cruise, enjoy stunning views of the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Reagan National Airport, the United States Naval Research Laboratory, Old Town Alexandria in Virginia, the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge and much more.

Food horrible and almost inedible. No kid choices. Service was fair but promised refills on drinks took forever. Wine list awfully expensive for what you got.

Being able to share a new experience with my wife! The wait staff was very nice and accommodating! Though the running around by some of the staff was a bit disconcerting!

Poor food and unremarkable experience

The food on this dinner cruise ultimately scuttled the experience. We ordered the salmon and chicken, and were highly disappointed by both as well as the desert bar. The food took forever to get to us while others had already finished their main course by the time we received our salad, which was the single high note of the meal. The salmon dish was overseasoned with salt, and the broccoli that came with it was overcooked and absolutely drenched in oil. The chicken was served with two sides which were themselves fine. However, the chicken itself was perhaps the most peculiar I have ever eaten as it strangely tasted like a bad salmon dish. How or why you would want a dish ordered in place of salmon to come out tasting like salmon I cannot fathom. The dessert buffet that topped it was lackluster at best. Cafeteria level display with what may as well been store bought cheese cakes, mediocre brownies, fruit that tasted old and an actually pretty good banana cake that was presented on a giant pan of unevenly cut pieces. I had hoped for a romantic evening on the Potomac for me and my fiancé but instead got an incredibly overpriced floating cafeteria with inconsistent at best service. The bad main course setting an unfortunate pall over the remaining trip, and the lackluster dessert doing nothing to cast it away. Stick to the finer restaurants in the city for a special evening. No view from the boat was especially remarkable, and the food will not make it special. The price is definitely not worth the disappointment.

Nonexistent service, overpriced
Nicholas
, Sep 2021
Overpriced and service was non existent. Asked for water from a service gentlemen takin plates and was told no and to find our waiter lol. Pretty much set the theme for the service. Food was halfway decent and I think any chefs preparing for large amounts of people on a boat should get extra credit but for essentially $150 per person(drinks $20 each), some service should come with that price. Could just be a case of underpaid and under trained staff but for the price you pay and advertisement around this leads you to believe your in for a romantic dinner on the river for a birthday / anniversary type occasion but that’s just not the case and if that’s what your looking for I would strongly recommend you spend your hard earn money else where. DC is full of wonderful restaurants.

Wonderful Vegan Food Choice
Lisa_D
, Aug 2021
Service was wonderful. All staff very friendly. Fantastic that a vegan choice was available and fruit included in dessert! Was delicious. Very disappointed with higher tide and unable to go the expected route. The actual cruise was only 2 hours not the 2.5-3 as advertised so we didn't get to see anything lit at dark.
