Beautiful hike
Diana_S
, Jun 2021
Our tour operators Big Joe and Felix were wonderful. They made sure everyone was safe and made the experience lively and fun. I didn’t give 5 stars only because the bio tour wasn’t worth it and the tour driver for that excursion wasn’t very friendly at all. He didn’t give us any information about the tour and just dropped us off. That tour was rushed and it was a long day. We could’ve done without it. The hike was beautiful and worth it though.

TL:DR go on the rainforest tour ONLY. Skip the mosquito bay BS.

I so wish I could split this review in half bc the first half of the day in the rainforest with Felix was a spectacular, 5 star event! Great host, fantastic experience - would recommend to anyone. Bioluminescence bay however was a complete bust. Totally boring, smelled awful, you can’t start this tour until dark so the day becomes wayyy too long - do not do these activities back to back. Also our “tour guide’s” only job was to get the guests on the bus at the beginning and back on the bus at the end - that was it, the rest was delegated to a third party company. And our tour guide was a moron that didn’t know how to count which meant it took us 30 extra minutes to get back to San Juan after the tour.

This review is only for Bio Bay

This review is only for the second part of the tour which is the Bio Bay. Due to weather conditions we couldn't do the rainforest part of the tour and they took us to a beach instead which was ok with me and was actually the only good part part of the day. Later in the day we were picked up from the beach to go to the Bio Bay and what a H-U-G-E disappointment that was! To get to and from the bay you have to kayak a good amount while you get destroyed by mosquitoes no matter how much bug repellent you use. Then you get to the bay and have to wait a bit for it to get darker. Then they pass a tarp to put over your head to make the environment even darker. You are supposed to stick your hand in the water shoulder deep to make the organisms "glow". Well I was moving my arm violently in the water and all I saw were 3 TINY glowing dots in the water which lasted for 1 second and THAT WAS IT! So extremely underwhelming to drive and kayak all the way there and have such a late night for THAT? I asked 5-6 other people about their experience on my tour and they shared the same disappointment. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 0 because of the beach, the driver was super friendly and they gave us a partial refund.

A time in the jungle

The rain forest was an absolutely amazing experience! And Jonathan our guide made it that more memorable with a wonderful personality and great insight and tips about the forest. The kayaking was a bit lack luster as the mosquitoes were almost unbearable so be sure to bring bug spray..... a lot of bug spray

Too long
Christina_P
, Jun 2021
The combo of the rainforest and kayaking was way too long. The shuttle to pick me up was late and came at 830am instead of 8am like I was told. I then didn't get dropped off after the kayaking until after 10pm. I missed my dinner reservation and everything. I enjoyed the rainforest eventhough I got hurt doing the 30 foot jump but definitely could've done without the kayaking. I got ate up by bugs on the kayak eventhough I put bug spray on.

We regret the return was on the later side and you missed your dinner reservation. Even thou the description notifies duration is 12 hours approximately, depending where you are staying sometimes can take more or less than the estimated time. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

The rainforest tour was amazing! It was even way more fun than expected. Felix and Christian were our tour guides. They went above and beyond to make our experience special. They were entertaining and friendly. My boyfriend couldn’t swim and they were supportive and made sure he still enjoyed all the unique thrills of the tour. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Fun adventure

Great hiking tour to the waterfalls and rock slides of El Yunque that was well led with safety in mind. We really appreciated Felix's enthusiasm and Christian's photo skills. We loved the area with all of the restaurant options we stopped at for lunch. The bio bay tour was very cool especially with glass bottom kayaks to see but felt a bit rushed while in the actual lagoon. I would still recommend the experience!
