Emotional Experience

This was a great tour and very educational. We experienced some emotional moments, as we had the opportunity to see the apartheid museum and walking in the townships. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took his time to explain different things.
A Must-Do Tour When in Joburg
, Feb 2020
Excellent tour! Thabang is an awesome tour guide. Had lots of interesting information to share and did a great job of engaging everyone in our "family" (tour group). Enjoyed both the Hector Pieterson and Apartheid Museums. Plenty of time to visit both. The visit to Soweto was eye-opening and it was good to know that a portion of our tour cost goes to helping those in the poorer sections of Soweto. Lunch was tasty. All in all a well-planned tour that was very enjoyable! Highly recommend!
Excellent exoerience

Good value for money and good guide. We had a good overview of Soweto and Aparthaid museum. The lunch was also good.

One of the best guided tours I have been on. Our guide Nick was simply so knowledgeable and wanted us to have the very best. Lunch was simply the cherry on top. If you only have one day to explore joburg this is def the tour to book! Amazing!
Very informative and interesting

Stanley was friendly and knowledgeable. The best part was the trip to Soweto and the Apartheid museum.
A nice tour overall
, Aug 2019
The tour was good although I would not say that the tour guides were 'knowledgeable' since they showed just general knowledge of the places. Some of their understanding of the history was not fully correct. The lunch provided us (not really buffet) was fine, but its amount was perhaps not enough for most people. We had a vegan in the tour and she basically only got a plate of salad for her lunch... You also had to pay your own drinks, which were actually cheap, something like 17 South African dollars for a coke (about 1 US dollar or so). Overall, I would still recommend it, though.

This trip was amazing and educational. The tour guide Sugar was great he gave out fun facts about the city
Great tour
, Jun 2019
I booked the tour the last minute (like 4 hours before midnight of the departure date), but the MoAfrika Tours still made their best to arrange the hotel pickup. The tour was perfect and very knowledgeable. Everything went well as planned but slightly fast paced- I wished there was more time. The driver as well as the tour guide was always enthusiastic and answered all the questions the guests had. I had a very good time and I think it is worthy to buy this product.
Soweto Tour with Beau-Beau
, Dec 2018
A brilliant guide, with so much information to share and delivered in a friendly yet knowledgeable manner. The walkabout into a shanty village in Soweto was eye-opening and whilst it was sad to see how some people are forced to live, it was necessary for me & daughter to see this side of life. The Briai was yummy at lunchtime. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour, and I hope you get Beau-Beau - he is a star. Thank you Beau-Beau. Meredith
Lovely people, eye opening experience!!

From start to finish our guide was very friendly, great fun and more than willing to chat about anything we asked. It was an eye opening tour that makes you feel more than lucky for everything you have.
Humbling, historical tour
, Nov 2018
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour as I was so looking forward to learning more about apartheid and the creation of 'Townships'. Prompt pick-up , good pace, Nice air-conditioned vehicle, nice small group .Lunch was good-local Braai, nothing fancy but good to try local dishes and get a nice cold drink. Hector Pieterson & Apartheid Museum were very informative....I very satisfied with tour , very humbled to hear local people talk about their life in a township.
Definitely worth doing

We saw a lot and had a very enthusiastic and committed guide who really added to the day. Apartheid museum tells its tale very well and would be worth a visit on its own. Lunch didn't suit my wife though.

Our tour guide, Thabang, was knowledgeable, friendly and engages all of us. We had an inside perspective from a native Soweto gentleman who shared multiple perspectives! Highly recommend this tour and particularly this tour guide. Thank you Thabang for sharing yourself and your homeland with us!Baileys

I'd highly recommend this tour with MoAfrica. Every aspect of the experience was well designed and executed. Scheduling with Viator was easy, pick up and drop off at my hotel was efficient, the tour guide, Bobo, was outstanding and sufficient time was allowed for each of the stops. Our group filled the mini van and from the questions asked, it seemed that folks could hear the narration even in the back of the van. The website accurately describes all of the sights which provide a good overview of major historical events. The BBQ lunch was delicious and fun. Two hours at the Apartheid museum after lunch was enough time to walk through quickly, but not sufficient time to really explore all the exhibits in depth. If you have limited time, this is the way to go!

The tour was very well organized and the tour guides were exceptionally well informed. A little extra time could have been spent at lunch and therefore shortened the time spent at the Apartheid museum. All in all a an excellent tour.

I absolutely loved this tour. Was picked up, on time at my AirBnB in Sandton. It was so informative and our tour guides were amazing. The most humbling part of this tour was walking through the favela in Soweto. Felt safe the entire time. The people are nice too. Plenty of opportunities to buy things. The food at the end of the tour was great. Definitely recommend this.
