The Basics

Nice Old Town is best explored on foot. A small-group or private walking tour will take in all the main attractions, including the colorful Flower Market and the historic landmarks of Garibaldi Square (Place Garibaldi). Alternatively, opt for a Segway or bike tour and climb to the top of Castle Hill for a spectacular view of the city, glide along the famous Promenade des Anglais, or hop off to sample local foods at the Old Town market. Nice city tours are often combined with sightseeing tours of surrounding French Riviera towns such as Villefranche-sur-Mer, Cannes, Saint-Jeannet, or Monaco’s Monte Carlo.

The Essential Nice 3h E-Bike Tour
Carmela was a wonderful guide; very knowledgable and entertaining. She made us feel so welcome. One of my teenagers said this was the best tour he had been on during our stay in France. The bikes were easy to ride after a short adjustment period, even for someone who had never ridden an e-bike before. The boost was all we needed to get up a very steep hill for people of medium fitness level. Great views and photo ops along the way.

★ Walking Tour of Old Nice and Castle Hill
Our guide was very informative, and we learned a lot about Old Nice. The tour continues from Old Nice on up to the top of Castle Hill for the noon cannon firing. It is a lot of stairs in the summer heat, so beware if you are mobility impaired. We loved the views from up there and it was well worth the climb. We would definitely recommend this tour as it is a great introduction to Nice.

Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo, Eze, 7H from Cannes port Small-Group Shore Excursion
Ben was our tour guide. Was scheduled for 4 ppl but delay to port made it a private tour for us. Ben was knowledgeable of area and gave us options to make the tour fit our wishes. Ben made appropriate suggestions as to sites to visit and those to enter for extra price. He allowed us time to eat at city of our choosing. Customizable option made the trip worth the money.

Marion was an AMAZING guide. We learned so much about the history and cuisine of Nice. The wine and cheese tasting in the street was really cool too. Great fellow tourists on our trip too! A must do if you’re in Nice.

When to Get There

Nice is at its busiest in July and August, when the Old Town can be crammed with tourists. Get there early to avoid large crowds and book ahead for restaurants in the evening. Outside of summer you’ll find fewer crowds and cheaper prices, but be aware that some attractions and restaurants have reduced hours in winter. The holiday season is a popular time to visit, when a huge Christmas market is held on Masséna Square (Place Masséna).
